Message for DilysP,Lollie, Pauline, Candy

Hi Guys

Well you have to laugh don’t you? I was just out for a quick drink and was accosted by a drunk who thought Mrs Mop here was the sexiest thing he had ever seen. What a sad life some people lead? So sorry Lucy. Is there no other way? Probably not to UCLH. I am sorry. Often nthese things don’t actually happen. Speaking as one who worked through it all in Central London.

I am looking forward to the wind competitions. Pauline I am so glad it was ok for you. I shall make you jealous for the next couple of weeks looking after a pair of Westies! And Dahlia please stay here making me laugh and laugh!

Lots of love

Hi All

Me again

Can’t sleep. Have somehow lost my sleep cap and am fretting to a silly degree. Hope everyone else is ok. I think I am driving the OH mad this evening. And may be myself as well. Thank goodness I don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn for work any more, or at least at the time being. Hope you are all ok.

Lots of love

Hi All

I see you have all been busy on here in the last few days. Just thought I would wish you all well for the next couple of weeks while I am on holiday. I go tomorrow evening and get back on 9th September.

I have been thinking a bit more about getting a job and now have my cv up to date and ready for looking for something when I get back. Actually, I have already sent it to one place so who knows. I haven’t mentioned BC yet though.

Dilys and Pauline, I hope you both keep feeling well and if you have your next chemo before I am back which I think you do Dilys I hope it goes ok as its the first taxotere.

Lucy, sorry to hear about the tube strike. What a pain! Nothing ever seems to go smoothly does it.

Candy, I hope you are feeling better now.

And Dahlia, I hope you are ok too.

If there is internet accessat the hotel where I am staying, I may pop on while I’m away if not it will be a couple of weeks.

Love to all.

Love Lollie x

Lollie

Have a ball, forget internet access - give yourself a break from BC and everything about it, we should all do that from time to time.

Best wishes

Lollie

just go and enjoy, we will still be here when you get back…

So Lucy …

Is that strike still going ahead? Do you have a bicycle or would that be a bit risky through London? Might be exhilarating though! How about roller blades? When we did London>Brighton there was a handful of rollerbladers who went all the way - nutters, it was much easier on a bike.

Anyway, hope you have some kind of solution. Would the hospital not provide transport in an emergency? I drove to radiotherapy, 100 miles round trip and NO ONE mentioned that there was free transport available. But don’t start me off …

Have a good weekend, all of you. We’re going to try and get our “money’s worth” from the National Trust as we’re so close to several properties.

Hi Dilys

I hope you enjoy lunch with your friend tomorrow.I went out today without my wig on or a bandanna on, I do have about 5-8 mm of hair now it was quite scary but i tried to see if people were looking, I dont think they were, I think I look quite intimdating so they probably didnt like to look rather like a thug with make up on, just goes to show looks are deceiving amd stereo types do exist …yes I hope that Pauline & Candy are both ok, at least they and you are one step nearer to getting off the chemo…I cant believe how quickly it seems to be going now…

oh well off to bed soon I am really tired today

Dearest Pauline and Lucy

So glad to hear from you both, and both well and enjoying life. Pauline - we are now looking after our neighbours Westies for a fortnight so I am twice round the local park every day with them. Had a lovely day today having lunch with a friend near Green Park. Guess what? I was wearing my wig and someone actually asked me where I had my hair done! No one has ever asked me that in my whole life! I just said Stepney Green, which is where I bought the wig! Couldn’t face going in to detail. Well done Lucy with your own hair again. However short it must be just great. I am feeling good today so hope it spreads to all of you. Can’t wait to finish the treatment and be real again.

Lots and lots of love

Dilys

Dear Lucy

Thank you. There is light at the end of this tunnel. So very glad you have hair again, however short. Can’t wait, but have to. You have been and are a lifeline my dear.

Sleep well. I am so wide awake at the moment I don’t think I will sleep tonight. Remember that? But who cares? Will take the neighbours dogs out tomorrow early anyway!

Your OH sounds great. Stick there my love. One in a million.

Hallo Dahlia

I know, we all have our moments, and I am sure you do too. It is just that you are usually so up about it all and so very funny sometimes that it is noticeable. I rely on you to make me laugh (and play silly games on here!). Yes it was great being asked about the hair! I nearly cracked up. It is a style of wig called Stacey, made by Hothair (what a name) and you can get them most anywhere I think. I just don’t live a million miles from Stepney Green where there was a stockist - tiny shop that is actually a hairdresser really on Globe Road. Mind you, still wearing the turban today. Stacey comes out on posh occasions!

The Westies are just great. Know what you mean about cats - our two are most definitely in charge of this household at all times.

Much love

Dearest Dilys and Lucy

Hope the rad went okay today Lucy and that strike on the underground doesn’t go ahead. It is great to hear you feeling so upbeat, I am so pleased for you and
can’t wait to get there myself. I remembered talking about the underground how windy it is on the platforms when the trains are about to appear (years since I have
been on there) so I can appreciate not wanting to have a wig on at that point!

Lucy how long was it between finishing chemo and starting rads? I would like to go away for a few days then if possible and just wondered it I could fit it in?

Dilys, I am sooo jealous of you and the Westies, wish I was nearer, I would be running round the park with you too. How wonderful that someone commented about
your wig, it does make you feel better.

Weather is supposed to be fairly good all week so let’s make the most of it.

love to all

Pauline

Your team should be a bit flexible about the time between end of chemo and start of rads. We went away for 3 weeks so I actually had 5-6 weeks between the treatments.

Good luck
D

Hi Pauline

My Rads planning was 3 weeks ater chemo and the actual treatment started 4 weeks after chemo approx…I just took it as I know a lot of people have trouble getting appointments judging by feed back on here…they said the last time I saw the doctor that I have to leave 1 month in between rads before taking a holiday…hope this helps…

No it was on the over ground train - I thought I was going to lose my wig in all that gale force wind we had at the time of those hurricanes abroad, I have to get 2 buses, if I cant get a lift to the station, 1 over ground train and the underground too and that is just one way, I have to repeat it all again on the way back…if i have to cope with the tube strike it will be a nightmare I will have to get 3 overground trains which take me right out of my way and a bus at the other end… and then repeat again on the way home…

Lucy
