I dont want to alarm you but I noticed you said your GP had perscribed dolusepin for you. My GP did the same as I was having trouble sleeping and was a bit depressed. I checked with my onc because he had already said I couldnt have prozac and he said it would be better not to have dolusepin either as they may intefere with the efficacy of tamoxifen in some people.
Hope I haven’t upset you but thought you should know so that you could ask your onc.

I was on Dolsiphin only stopped 4 days ago. I did tell onc. I was taking this and due to start Tamoxifen next week, he did not tell me it was a prob. but then I do wonder if he actually registered what I had said!!! So probably Alise is right Shonagh that you should check with you onc. don’t you have an appointment with him next week? I would be interested to know what he says.

Cheers ladies thanks for the heads up, I did tell my onclogist when I was given my treatment programme but same as Alice I’m not entirely sure they took in what I was saying. I’ll give my BC nurse a ring on Tuesday.
Dont worry about upsetting me and thanks for thinking of me, blimey its a minefield isnt it. Guess I may just have to get off to sleep on my own but not sure about the collywobbles!!!LOL!!

Let me know what he says. The thing that really worried me is that my GP said she had researched and they were fine to take with tamoxifen!!! If I hadn’t have checked with my onc I would still be merrily taking them. I was a bit cross with my Gp but then I thought she can’t know everything although you would think she might have checked a bit better given the circumstances!!

When I went for my onc appointment for the treatment programme I took everything with me that I had been given and showed him the box, he said it was fine. I had a good trawl on the net laste night and cant find any contraindication unless its in German or something I cant read. My BC nurse knows I am on it too but I am going to see them on the 31st so will run it by them then. I am on the zoladex at the minute anyway so there is no oestrogen for the tamoxifen to work on at the minute anyway but have decided to switch to the zopiclone to knock me out for the week until I get the OK. I know thats ok coz the BC nurses sugested it but only for short periods of time. I’ll just have to live with the rising panic for a week without the dusolepin.

I have had zopiclone - onc said that’s fine. My onc checked dosulepin/tamoxifen with the consultant psychiatrist . They both said that tricyclic anti depressants ( zopiclone etc) may intefere with tamoxifen so best not to risk it. I was treated at a Centre of Excellence so I do listen carefully to them!!! Like you say it’s a minefield and I don’t think GP 's are specialised enough in bc so I always check. My onc is brill - he gets back to me within a few hours.
