Metallic taste and impaired smell/taste om aromasin

Hi

I switched to aromasin inhibitor last october sfter joint pains on Sromness became too much. I feel so much better on aromasin but in past few weeks have lost my smell and sense of taste (not totally) and have a metallic taste in mouth. Two lots of antibiotics for a head cold and still no improvement. Starting to wonder if it’s a side effect of drug even though it’s not a listed side effect on pamphlet. Saying that I know we all have loads of side effects that aren’t listed. Just wondered if anyone has had these symptoms at all or if anyone thinks it could be linked to drugs or even (god forbid) a recurrence. Any info at all would be so much appreciated as it’s driving me crazy at the moment!

Many thanks for reading this. Carrie

Hi Carrie

I’m on exemestane (aromasin) too, been taking it for 2 months and have had a foul taste in my mouth whenever I eat meat, drink coffee or wine!!

It started after 2 weeks, I was hoping it would go as my body got used to it but I’m still the same. It’s a bit like being pregnant (sick and dizzy and off food) but with out the benefit of a baby at the end… hope it doesn’t last for the whole 4 years that I’ve initially been prescribed it for!!

I tried to find out if it’s a regular side effect but haven’t been able to come up with anything and my GP hadn’t heard anything either…

I’m just avoiding everything that leaves the taste, luckily I like fish and vegetables, and I’m drinking lots of water which has helped a bit.

take care
