Metallic taste question

How many of you who are affected by mettallic taste in your mouth have the ‘normal’ fillings in your teeth and how many have the white plastic? And how many without fillings at all?

Just curious. xxx

Hi i have started on some sleeping pills which are great, but the taste in my mouth can be awful, can’t stand the taste of water anymore (thank god for alcohol!) i have normal fillings and some gold/platnium crowns, no white fillings though.

its a symptom you should have been warned about with chemo the metallic taste, not sure why it does that but try sucking sherbert lemons or drinking lemon squash…

I don’t have a problem as yet but I had a theory that the more normal fillings a person has the more the metallic taste… just wanted to confirm my theory…dull I know, but important to me…LOL xxx

Hmm, this is actually something I never thought about. I have way way too many silver fillings and could only taste metal for about 4 months. Fascinating!! :slight_smile: Only thing that got rid of it for me was ridiculously hot spicy food like Madra Curry or pizza with lots of Jalapenos, but I would seriously not recommend this if you have mouth ulcers or a sensitivity. Lucy’s idea is good and I used to eat sherbert strawberrys, cola cubes and any kind of boiled sweet you can suck like brandy balls etc…

got normal metallic fillings,found fresh pineapple is ace for helping, it also has the added bonus of helping to prevent mouth ulcers, common with chemo. Also Bovril!!

am off to get some sherbert lemons -once again I have horrid mettalic taste in mouth and this was the only thing that worked

Good question ! I’ve got a mixture of fillings, and this bloomin taste in my mouth drives me mad! Have just had chilli for tea and couldnt taste it ! Have also gone off tea which is a real shame, as I love my cuppas!

I too found that sherbet lemons are great, I’m also drinking lemon barley by the gallon, and got through half a pot of lemon sorbet last night. Lemons it is girls !!
