Metaplastic triple negative

Hi Wendy

Just to confirm that Metaplastic is not the same as Metastatic and here is a link with more information about metaplatic breast cancer from BCC as herbgarden has mentioned:

If you feel it would help to talk your queries over with one of our helpliners on 0808 800 6000, Mon-Fri 9-5 and Sat 10-2

Take care

Lucy

Thanks Lucy and herbgarden x x

I’m so sorry! I know what I was describing was metastatic not metaplastic. I think I must have a screw loose!!

Sorry for any confusion!! *blush*

Hi, I’m sorry we end up meeting in here but I’m at a loss and feeling pretty down. I have no idea what is going on and what my future holds. The local doctor has given me very little to go on and I’m hoping the next group I meet will be better equipped to chat.

I have been diagnosed with Invasive Metaplastic carcinoma , 5cm with associated ductal carcinoma in situ of high greade, cribiform type. No metaplastic carcinoma or ductal carcinoma in situ is seen in the margins (yay)

The invasive carcinoma consists of a centrally necrotic anaplastic malignant neoplasm with a pedominate spindle cell appearance and numerous tumor giant cells, some multinucleated and osteoclast-like. Immunostaining shows focal positivity with OSCAR keratin. The metaplastic carcinoman is negative for estrogen, progesterone and her2/neu (guessing that means triple negative).

So can someone tell me what in the world is going on. Do I have 3 different kinds of cancers in the one mass that was removed. Is there any treatment proven to help with this? How do I proceed? So many questions. Thx.
