My mum has breast cancer that has metastisised to the skin in multiple areas - confirmed by biopsy. Her ct scan had shown small nodules in lungs and kidneys. The oncologist said she had never seen a case of it going to the kidneys before but they have compared it to a scan done in December - that was clear. It was originally moderate er+ but now triple neg.
I cannot find any info on breast cancer metastisised to the kidneys - although I suspect it’s the lungs that are the bigger issue but I’d still like to know how/why.
Anyone here known metastisis to kidneys? What type was it?

Hi Daisy,
Sorry - I havent the answers you are looking for. Just wanted to say, im so sorry to hear about your poor mum.
It sounds a lot for her to deal with, Its hard to watch her going through it too, isnt it? Often feels worse than having cancer ourselves.
sometimes, the reason for these things are very unclear, could it have travelled via the blood stream ?What treatment are they proposing now? Do let us know how Mum gets on,
Love Moijan
Just found this old artivle, but maybe the authors have moved on now and know more? Just a thought

Thanks Moijan
Yes they said it must’ve travelled via bloodstream to be a widespread in the skin - this was before they saw it in kidneys. Still I do not think its uncommon for it to travel via blood, just for it to be in kidneys. Maybe it’s unusual that it likes it there?
I have looked up so many pages on Internet and only occasional out of date research paper on kidney spread.
They are starting her on taxol and carboplatin on Thursday.
