I have to undergo either a Microdochectomy or a Hadfields Procedure performed next week on my left breast.
I spotted a clear discharge from a single duct on my left nipple about six weeks ago. I kept and eye on it but it didn’t go away so I went to my GP. He referred me to the breast care department at the hospital. I underwent xrays and ultrasound which showed nothing but the consultant wants to remove the effected duct/ducts to be sure.
This has all happened in less than a week and my op is now in six days.
I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and even though my breast care nurse has told me not to worry, I can’t help it.
I would like to hear from anyone has had either of these procedures carried out please?
Hi Bats, I didn’t have these procedures done but as far as I know they are just day cases. You are in for op and out of the hospital on the same day. It’s good that they are removing it, just to be sure that it is nothing. It could just be a papilloma - a benign wart growth that is quite common in the ducts and it is really good news that the scans showed nothing sinister. Best of luck, x
I have got my head around this now although I still can’t help but worry a little.
I have read what other women have gone through and are going through in the forums and it puts what I’m going through into perspective a little bit. No news is good news!
I go and have the procedure done, as a day case, on Monday 6th October. I will let you know how everything goes.
I saw a consultant this week and was told I needed the same procedure on both breasts - it is a bit scary - let me know how you get on. They said no appoinments would be available until the end of October! So inside info on what to expect would be ace:)
