Good afternoon everyone hope your weekends have been better than mine.
Was admitted to hospital on Friday evening with suspected stroke, which is what the doctors have been following this disorder when specialist
came on ward this morning I have been rediagnosed with acute migraine leaving me with some paralysis in my right had, hopefully temporary.
Phoned Oncologist when I got home and he thinks I should have had an MRI. The CT scan showed nothing. I now stresing as its taken me ages to type this note as my co-ordintion is haywire.
Can anyone tell me if they have been diasgnosed with brain mets thru just a ct, would you expect something to show on just the ct and not only on an MRI or anyone had paralysis causing migraine.
I am woried and scared, please look for honest advice as always
sorry you are having all this stress. If it were me I would be quite relieved to hear that they think it is ‘just’ migraine that is causing the problems. But then being only human we would all I suspect be asking the question - are they right!
I did have suspect problem a couple of years ago when I was getting constant headaches and nausea and was sent off for a CT Brain scan. It ended up with them not doing it because I was allergic to contrast dyes so am assuming you did have that? I was sent for urgent MRI then - so it looks like an either or situation. Why not press your oncologist to set up the MRI to set your mind at rest.
Here’s hoping that the paralysis in your right hand? resolves itself soon, and you can get on with life without this awful worry.
Thanks Dawn I was hoping you would answer you have so much experience in so many areas of this rotten disease.
Oncologist has been very good, my chemo nurse came around to the ward I was on yesterday morning and he said he would nip back in the afternoon but the desperation for beds had me discharged on my way home. I spoke to him on the phone when I got home and he said he had been caught out once in his career after being told by radiologist that condition wasnt a stroke and it turned out it had been and caused terrible effects for the patient.
The ct scan I had wasnt wih contrast dye but at 5.30am in morning I didnt think to ask and I guess they hadnt taken the cancer into consideration.
My chemo nurse did say she would have thought even on a normal scan it should have showed as some abdnormality and the fact it showed normal is encouraging. Myoncologist told me to go in to see him tomorrow pm and probably have an Mri just to be on the safe side tomoz too, so I cant ask for quicker than that, as the senior oncologist from Christie is with him tomoz and she will see me also.
Unfortunately both my original diagnosis and secondary too didnt show up at initial scan so Im worrying myself stupid what this really is.
I have woken up this morning with a lovely blodshot eye!
Thanks again for reply another 30 hours to wait grrrr
No experience or advice Ann, just wanted to send you big hug and my hopes that all goes well for you tomorrow, and bumping this up a bit so someone else might spot it.
