GP has decided that Zopiclone for sleep not the best option and now switched to 15 mg of Mirtazapine. Anyone’s experience of this greatly received - also any info about weight gain as I see this can be a side effect I could do without. Many thanks.
Please check with your oncology team, ensure no adverse reactions with cancer and any other meds - liver, kidney function etc
We well and safe x
Mirtazapine is an anti-depressant which also helps with sleep without leaving you feeling hungover the next day. And yes, it does result in weight gain unless you are very strict. So, slim and sleepless or well-rested but curvy. You takes your choice!
Thank you - good to hear you don’t feel hungover next day.
Hi @michellem55
I was prescribed Mirtazepine too. I took half a tablet (7.5mg) which was enough to give me a good nights sleep and it helped with my mood when I was in the thick of it.
I did put on a bit of weight last year however I was not as active, ate what I could stomach during chemo then started Letrozole.
I stopped taking it a few months ago and have lost half a stone.
May be worth trying half a tablet as it could just be enough to give you a good nights sleep as it was for me. X
Thanks so much for telling me - definitely feel the sleep has to take priority at the moment. Best wishes.
