I cannot think straight yet, i feel everything is out of my control. i cannot pick the phone up because i cry and and are unable to speak.
I was DX on 3rd Feb after finding dimpling on side of my right breast, i had a mamagram, ultra sound and biopsy in the same clinic.I was told that they were 90% sure it would come back as cancer and i would need a WLE and probably SNB. This was the case, but i received news by phone on Thurs afternoon from my bcn that i was ERpos/+ and needed to take tamoxifen 20mg until a week before my op.I was really scared, i cried all the way to the docs to pick up prescription.
I drunk a bottle of red wine and felt sorry for myself.
any advise welcome ?
Bc is definitely better out than in and this is the first step on your road to recovery xx
Sorry double posted
Hi LP and welcome to the BCC forums
In addition to the support you have here please feel free to call our helpline where you can talk things through with one of our team on 0808 800 6000, weekdays 9-5 and Sat 9-2.
I am posting a link to the BCC publication which is a resource pack for those newly diagnosed which you may find useful:
Take care

Hi LP
I’m sorry you’ve had to join us, and I know exactly how you feel with the bottle of red, I did exactly the same. A very tasty Rioja incidentally, but it could have been turpentine for all that I noticed. (And felt ghastly the following day, but hey, I knew I would and sometimes these things just need to be done, don’t they.)
I also know how you feel about the head reeling, and not being able to talk to anyone about it without crying, and not being able to think straight, so you’re COMPLETELY NORMAL for feeling like this as most of us have felt exactly the same too.
Just after diagnosis is such a dreadful time, but as you learn more from your treatment team about what type of cancer you have and what your treatment plan is, and once you actually get started on that treatment plan, you will gradually start to feel less out of control.
Do give the helpline a ring, even if you find you burst into tears they will not be phased about it and will be able to offer you some sensible person-to-person advice. You should also use your breast care nurse for her support, as she will be able to answer a lot of your questions too.
Good luck, and as Marygrace said, the surgery is very do-able and you may well be in and out on the same day.
