I have done 2 out of 15 sessions - so far so good! using flamigel, it absorbs really quickly so take it with me to apply straight after. The nurse said can uses any - as long as dont contain SLS.

Hi

I recommend flamigel also. I had 9 treatments, 4 of which were boosts. I applied it 4 times daily for about 2 weeks, then reduced it. I never had any problems.

I was told to use whatever I was already using as you can become sensitive trying something new. I won some Radiaderm R1 R2 from Dr Liz O’Riordan, one is a moisturiser the other a cooling gel. I have really sensitive allergy skin and I didn’t get redness or any other issues. It worked well for me. I didn’t a patch test 48 before starting using it.

On the forum many other have used unfraganced creams for eczema etc such as Aveeno, Diprobase, E45 and if you become red Flamigel.

Take care

Has anyone used mepitel film? Just been reading up on this. Thanks

Hi naughty_boob, You are so correct to advise using what you normally use, especially non fragranced. I too have allergies so understand where you are coming from.

Flamigel dressings contain ‘dairy’, and i suspect there is likely to be some in the cream.

ingredients given on the bottle Do not fully list allergy sensitive ingredients, and its always best if you suffer allergies to ring the customer help line, which should be listed on th bottle or box if it comes in a box outer. I always ask for a ‘safety Data sheet’, which gives the more detailed information. however some companies state they a) are not required to provide this to patients: Wrong [Under ECHA (Europe) as at 31.12.20 Article 31 part 4 + 5, states you are entitled. Soz to give you the technical side, but this has help me prevent and identify all adverse reaction’s. Glad that you are doing ‘patch tests’ though.

Feel free to reply if more clarity needed. I still use E45, and get the 500 ml pump bottle from my GP. Love and light Moonsox.

ps. I have Type 4 Allergies which means my adverse reaction often doesn’t materialise until 3-4 days later. although non as yet have been anaphalatic, I have had full body rash. especially the morning after my lymph glands were removed - despite being asked was i ok with Iodine, they used Chloraprep, which resulted in a full body rash. My Surgeon was quick to fill out a yellow card, and this has now been added to my Allergy list. Lol Moonsox.

Hi. My consultant recommended Epaderm cream. I bought a big bottle, they’re £12 in Tesco pharmacy at the moment. Started moisturising twice a day 2 weeks before radiotherapy and continued for a couple of months after. It really did the trick and I still use it every other day now. Lasts ages, I’m still on the original bottle! For reference, I had 5 days of radiotherapy. I hope everything goes well with your treatment. X

Thank you

I finished 20 sessions of radiation today. Yay!

I used a light moisturiser in the morning and afternoon and then used Aquaphor every night. All the ladies on the breast cancer Reddit recommended it.

After 20 sessions I look slightly sunburnt with a darker nipple. No soreness and only a very light itch which goes when I put the Aquaphor on.

I also kept my hydration up by drinking loads of water and that really helped too.

Good luck. I hope it all goes well.

Hello :waving_hand:t3: :hugs: I have used natural shea butter, it’s been amazing!!!

I bought it from my local African hair shop. It was only a small pot but lasted so well!

Hi :waving_hand:t2:

Thanks for this question, I have been told I need 15 sessions + 4 boosts.

Feel nervous as I’m still struggling 8 weeks bi-lateral reconstruction post op with tenderness, tightness and tingling… all the T’s it seems.

Will take advice of board.

Thank you :folded_hands:t2:
