Hi all,

Just a quick update to all you lovely women who replied to me in my hour of need!! AJ you make me laff ;0) xx I showed mom all of your replies it was her first day out after 2 weeks after feeling so bad after number 5 chemo she was touched to know you had all sent her such thoughtful stories and she has told me today that thanks to you all she has now found the strength to continue with her last treatment she is so worried but says that she knows she is not facing it alone and she couldn’t believe how many women are going through exactly the same she has got to have her bloods done monday then all been good will have her last injection next tuesday she also thought it was just her who got the constant running nose and sore eyes once I had shown her other threads she felt ok about everything you really have been such a help to me throughout this difficult time and I want to thank you for helping me through this with your funny stories it’s great to fight this with a sense of humour I think positive humorous attitude gets you through the dark days - one more question if anyone wouldn’t mind answering how does the radiation compare with the tiredness felt during chemo will mom feel just as exhausted?

Thanks again lol lisa xx

Hi Lisa
Have not seen your other thread but by your comments I am so pleased you and your mum are coping well and your mum has found an inner strength to continue the fight against this awful disease. To reassure you I finished rads some six weeks ago and it is nowhere near as bad,it is more impersonal than chemo but the tiredness is minimal compared to it.

Good luck to you both, take care and stay strong

Hi Lisa
it is a walk in the park compared to chemo, your mum may feel more tired as she has each one but just tell her to take it easy do any jobs before she goes.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your speedy reply these forums are fantastic for people like me my mom doesn’t like to ask too many questions she feels she is bothering the BCN so once I found this website I was well away its so great to hear everyone’s advice which I quickly pass on to mom I think she is just desperate to get the last chemo over with as she is just so tired all the time how long did it take to recover from your last chemo? Do you feel like your old self now your treatment is over with?

Thanks again Mary lol lisa xx

Hi debs,

Thanks for replying people are so great on these forums you get your answers asap did you feel tired for days after the rads or did you quickly recover from the tiredness at the moment mom has her chemo then is out of sorts for 2 weeks after she was such an active peson think she is struggling to see light at the end of the tunnel lately

hi lisa,
glad your mum has decided to have the last chemo.
I found radiotherapy a doddle after chemo, personally I didn’t seem to be effected by the tiredness too much with radiotherapy…and yes your mum should recover quicker from the tiredness with radiotherapy than with chemo’…but remember we all react differently too.

Best wishes to you and your mum.

Thanks Karen, I will pass on all meassages to mom tomorrow if she feels up to it she is coming round tomorrow, have you now finished all your treatment.

Hi Lisa
It is very supportive here and since my dx last October it has been a lifeline to me,I finished chemo in March ,had WLE in April followed by 15 rad sessions,i had 2 weeks holiday after and returned to work 4 weeks ago.Like your mum I am used to being active, I am 47, and had that same feeling of when is this going to end,I now feel fantastic, still get more tired than I used to but being sensible. We had a family wedding yesterday and I danced my feet off, they said I am almost back to the way I used to be,although mentally I feel stronger.

Oh Mary that is great to hear and am pleased you are back on your feet and dancing the night away I just love listening to great stories like yours knowing the end of this dreadful nightmare will end - thanks for sharing your story with me and I wish you lots of happiness xx

Hi Lisa

Have just found this thread and I am so pleased your mum has found the strength to go for the last one. I think the last one is the hardest cos you are so close but you think you just cant do anymore. It takes alot of courage to go for that last push so please tell your mum well done.

The rads are a breeze compared to the chemo. Having the ct scan at the planning appointment can make you feel abit vulnerable but it is all very private and the staff are very good at protecting your dignity and the actual radiotherapy sessions are very quick. It does make you tired because the rads destroy heathy cells as well as unhealthy ones and your body can only repair itself when we are asleep so it sends us to sleep so it can get on with the job so the quickest way to get through it is to give in to it and not fight it too much.

I am so glad your mum has read some of the threads because it is such a help when you know that the stuff that is happening to you is “normal” and Ok.

Best of luck with the last one and count down the days [its Ok to wish this bit of your life away!!]

AJxxx
