Hello everyone, i’m the new girl! I was diagnosed with Grade 1 ductal carcinoma on 23rd June, after routine mamogram. probably that day life changed! I had lumpectomy and sentinal lymph gland removed on 16th July. Lymph gland is clear. start 4 weeks radiotherapy within next month. wounds have healed very well. I feel well, have no pain or discomfort. am eating and drinking sensibly (boring I know). almost can’t believe this is happening to me. I have trouble processing my thoughts sensibly and am definatly suffering from anxiety issues. I know my recovery is going to be very good medically but emotionally i’m a wreck!! hence being off sick ,with my line of work I couldn’t possibly complete my role at work safely. CBT has been mentioned I just feel a bit embarrassed that I can’t work it all out in my head alone. x

Hi Flowers
Any response you are experiencing is perfectly valid. No one can possibly predict how we might react so let yourself have these feelings.
About cbt, I had this a few years ago for something else and found it very helpful, so don’t dismiss it out of hand. It can be a very useful technique and once learnt can be applied to other situations.
