Moving to Brighton or Bournemouth - cancer services good

Hi
Can anyone advise if there are good breast units in Brighton and Bournemouth. Also, any private hospitals in either place? I would be grateful for any info as we are thinking of moving down there and I’m a bit clingy to my consultant up here in Scotland!

Hi Flax,
i was treated in brighton and will try and pm you - never done it before so bear with me!
cheers
Caroline

Hi there,
Thanks for posting back but I don’t think I got your pm. I have been away and just found your message, hence the delay in replying! Could you pm me again or just perhaps tell me if it was a good or bad experience? I don’t think people have rated Brighton much so far…
Thanks so much

Hi, I found out I had got breast cancer 3 weeks ago and had the operation - a WLE just over 1 week post diagnosis and had the op at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. I thought they were really speedy and seemed to know what they were doing and I understand that both Bournemouth and Poole are well respected hospitals for breast cancer and quite a few trials are caried out in both hospitals. I now need another op as they found DCIS on the edge of the tumour and this will be done in just over a week. I also went part of the way privately and both Bournemouth and Poole have Nuffield and BMI facilities and work together with the NHS. Hope that helps.

Hi Flaxhi

Don’t know if this helps but I have really good experience of Bournemouth hospital (non BC) and excellent treatment at Poole hospital. Poole hospital Consultant Surgeon Miss Evans was absolutely fantastic and referred me to Salisbury, Miss McGuiness who is also first class.

Hope this is helpful. Good luck, wherever you go! xxx

Hi Flax
I have recently been diagnosed with BC and am being treated at Brighton. The Nigel Porter unit has recently moved premises from what can only be described as a very basic premises at the RSCH to what is now ultra swanky brand new premises based near Preston Park in Brighton.
As I have alread said I’m a newby member but I have done as much research as I possibly can on the four surgeons, there are two that I believe are very very good Mr Yelland and Mr Zammit, friends have referred to them as Gods, there experiences to date have been second to none; high praise indeed! One of my friends had a reoccurrence of BC.
I hope this is of help to you.

PS Brighton & Hove is an amazing place to live.
