MRI scan

Hi again

Can someone tell me exactly what an MRI scan is for. I have had CT and Bone scans, and also a PET scan done too. The CT & bone scan showed up “hot spots” which is why I had the PET scan, which came back clear. This evening I had a call from the hospital to make an appt for an MRI which was ordered by my oncologist, nothing was said to me about an MRI when I saw him yesterday… this has now got me all worried again as I thought the PET scan results said the cancer had not spread. Please can someone reassure me that it not bad news - I will be phoning the hospital in the morning to clarify things, but would appreciate some advice now =(

Thanks in advance

Hi MM

Please don’t panic. I read your other post and 1dayatatime post is the one you should read. I agree that it is almost certainly an MRI on your breast as a pre-chemo baseline. I’ll eat my computer if it is for anything else but that.

I understand your anxiety (was there myself 5 years ago) and do sympathise but a clear PET scan is good news and means that no further looking for anything nasty is required.

Hang in there and good luck
