How long did everyone wait for an mri scan if you had one… I’ve been given an appointment in 2 weeks and then been told I’ll what yet another week for another! It’s sending me nuts all this waiting I just want everything done and over with now as I know it’s gunna be disappearing! Im trying to take the 2 weeks wait as a positive as they mustn’t think it’s urgent. I’d probably panic more if they had me.in the next day! No winning in this is there ?
*another week for results
I really should proof read before posting!
*it’s not disappearing
Hi Melia,
Yes, that is usual, that was my experience. Looking back, I found waiting for the MRI stressful, but having come out the other side now, I’m so glad it was done as now I feel reassured that everything was done to get the best diagnosis & treatment plan for me.
It will be the same for you.

Same here Melia. I have my MRI on Thursday - 2 weeks after being told it was cancer. Then another week for more ultrasound and potential biopsy, which means another week to wait for those results! It’s torturous! However I do realise that this all needs to be done. Like you in some ways I take some comfort that they didn’t call me back immediately - but of course I am imagining that cancer is just spreading around me every Day! Wishing you luck and positivity! It’s a total and utter nightmare all this waiting around… I’ve heard of they find more suspicious areas they will do yet more biopsies so another wait. I really don’t see the point of more biopsies as they know his in the full bottom half of breast so I know I’ll be having a masectomy anyway. Trying to stay strong for.my girls but finding it a real struggle at the minute.
I was diagnosed on 22nd Mar h and was told id receive a MRI appointment within the next 2 weeks… will you have to travel to receive it? Or local hospital has one but obvisously in demand as used for everything… i am so impatient aswell i just want everything to be done and out the way x
When MRI found more areas in my breast they wanted to do a biopsy but I said I wanted a mastectomy as the radiologist said she was 100% sure the other areas where malignant - the surgeon asked me how I would feel if once the pathology came back after mastectomy that the other areas were benign? I said well I would just look at that as a bonus but wouldn’t regret my decision for a mastectomy - everyone is different and I can respect people wanting to keep their breast if they can (which is why they really need to do biopsies to prove mastectomy is required) - but I had an informed choice and I chose mastectomy - as I posted before, the pathology came back as 10 areas of malignancy so I chose correct.
I’ve got to travel a bit queen bee half an hour drive but would be willing to give elsewhere of it meant I got in quicker. I’m the same I know I’ve got it so just want rid of it and treatment started as quick as possible now. I feel the same quality Alex they’ve already biopsied 3 areas and told me ill be losing the bottom half of breast regardless of these results. I’d rather have all of it off than half as at least I know they have then got it all. X
Melia - just tell the surgeon that if that’s how you feel - it’s your body after all x
Where abouts are you Melia?where do you have to travel too? Have you the option to try other areas or.private just to get in quicker? X
