My first post

Hi, I was diagnosed with BC June 20th 2013, had a lumpectomy on 6 August, but unfortunately because tumour was more than 7cm had to have a single mastectomy on 20 August. Luckily my lymph nodes were clear! I’ve just had my first FEC chemotherapy last Thursday. I’ve felt nausea, tired, constipated and keep crying. My taste is disgusting and I’m finding my scar is hurting now? Does it get any better as the days go on? Much appreciate your comments xx

Hi Dawn

I’m so sorry that you find yourself as a member of the club nobody wants to join. My first piece of advice is too join one of the monthly groups which you can find here:

forum.breastcancercare.org.uk/t5/Chemotherapy-monthly-threads/bd-p/Chemotherapy_monthy_threads

The current one is November Newbies. You will find many others who are going through the same as you, and can share their experiences and support one another.

It is usual that the first dose of chemo sets the pattern for the rest. Whatever you have gone through, mention it to your onco team when you go for your next appointment. They will provide you with whatever drugs you need to cope with the side effects. I know you will have been given anti -sickness pills, if you are feeling nauseous, then take them. Your team can give you drugs to help with constipation. The tiredness and disgusting taste is something we all have to learn to live with. I notice that you have found the chemo tips thread too.

Sending hugs
