I hope the next few days bring some help for your friend and for you and others who are looking after her. I won’t offer platitudes, you are right to use the word ‘vile’.
I’m sure you will be making the most of the ‘good’ moments she is having. Let’s hope that once in the hospice, she is able to have more of these moments.
I hope your friend gets to the hospice quickly and recieves relief from the pain. It is dreadful for you all and you are in my thoughts.I do hope that things improve quickly and your friend her family and you can get some peace.Wishing your friend a more comfortable night. Keep strong.
Love Julie x
Today she has been diagnosed with a chest infection - more penicillin. Paramedics visited tonight (her son called them) but the hospice had no doctor available to assess and the only other alternative would have been A & E. Thankfully she is being kept comfortable at home until her trip to the hospice tomorrow morning.
Through all of this she laughed at me today when I leant over to talk to her and dipped the end of my scarf into my cup of coffee! I have my uses!
Thank you lovely people. Thinking of you all and wishing you the best of everything.
The hospice is such a calm and kind environment. It’s appalling that any hospice has to fight for funds.
My mate is comfortable and able to have a laugh now and then. She has amazing lucidity mingled with gobble-de-gook. Prognosis? This is not a precise science but we are told it is days/weeks. At least they are beginning to perfect a pain free environment for her.
I cannot believe my mate’s tenacity! Neither can the hospice staff. She has been through so much and a few days ago ate half a dozen chocolate eclairs. That just goes to show how much style she has!
She is now slipping away, slowly but peacefully. She is, as far as we can see, pain free and surrounded by those who matter to her. I so hope she gets her release soon. She has suffered so bravely.
I hope your friend is pain free and at peace. I sincerely hope that I am up to eating half a dozen eclairs when the time comes, they are one of my favourites.
Today Val lost her courageous fight, very peacefully with her two sons and her Mum at her side. She will leave a huge hole in so many lives. She was a phenomenal person. I was privileged to call her my best mate.
Good luck all you lovely people and thank you so much for your amazing support and lovely words.
