Hi everyone,
Ive had a pic line in on 27th August, which hurt so badly, took her two attempts, she said the pain was because of the nerves.
Anyway went on for 1st cycle EC same day.
Since 27th it just obe thing after another, got a blood clot under arm, it bleeds everytime its flushed. And i have tenderness on the side of the breast…
So someone said they shouldnt put pic line in same side of surgery, which they have for me.
Im concerned about this, i have my consultant app this week before my 2nd cycle and i will mention it.
Really just wanted to get some feefbavk about others pic line.
Thank you.
Sorry youve had these issues. Def talk to your oncologist or the nurses
You shouldn’t just wait for the next appt. Whilst you always know its there , you shouldn’t be getting pain and problems.
There are other options if picc doesnt work for you, a port other drug types etc.
Dont stay quiet
Hope you get it resolved soon x
Thank you, so ive spoken to my consultant, and they arent happy the pic line is in the side of my surgery, so i have to have it removed and put in the left arm, they say because ive got a clot already they are concerned about lymphoedema. So i now wait, dreading it as it was so painful the first time.
So sorry for you
It really shouldn’t hurt, and you know to shout up if it does
(I had an issue feeling mine in my chest/throat, i had it adjusted and 2cm pulled out , now im nearing end of chemo and it will soon be out…i dont love it, but its made bloods and treatment easier and you sort of get used to it…but certainly not painful)
Could you discuss if a port might be better for you? Or if your veins are good enough to take canulation each time? You dont have to have a picc if not right for you.
Big hugs x
