I read all your stories this is my story.
2 years ago after a routine mammogram (4 yrs instead of 2 yrs because of covid) I was diagnosed with intermediate dcis, had a lumpectomy, unfortunately the margins were positive so I had to have a mastectomy and pre pectoral implant reconstruction, as it turns out I had extensive dcis over 10 cm, high grade, I have small breasts 34D, there was still some dcis in the margins so I had to have 15 rounds of radiotherapy ( rare after mastectomy for dcis). Anyway I dealt with it all very well, just got on with it, now I am on Anastrazole with some side effects, aches and pains in muscles and bones, trigger thumb, hot flushes etc.
The point is that I now feel like I am falling apart after being so strong, I am now constantly worrying about a recurrance and when it is going to happen….can anyone relate and feel the same…..sorry for the rant..

Don’t worry about a rant - this is the place to get things off your chest ( no pun intended ). It’s very tough moving forward after such a scary time , having cancer in whatever form really shakes you up and alot of us have found you need some additional help to move forward afterwards whether that be from talking here , local support groups or Breast Cancer Now’s Moving Forward Course .

Thank you Jill, I already feel better, I think I was just having a really bad day, I find this forum very helpful, it’s good to hear other peoples stories and know that you are not alone.

You’re not alone. I think we’ve all been there. Worrying about every ache and pain convinced it the cancer back. I had my diagnosis nearly 4 years ago it does get better. I would also recommend any of the breast cancer now talks. I’ve listened to a few and found them really helpful especially the moving forward one. It makes you realise you’re not on your own.

Thank you Shell, I haven’t looked at them but I certainly will now for sure.
Me too! Feel exactly the same. Very weird place 3 years on. I have been trying some workshops with ‘Life After Cancer’. Google it. Has been useful. Sending huge love to you.
Your right Shady, it is a weird place but good to know I’m not the only one here, it’s good to talk to people who know what you mean and I will definitely have a look at those workshops. Thank you.

I couldn’t find any face to face groups near me so have done groups and workshops online. Really helpful. I also relied heavily on this forum!!!
