Nadir - when exactly?!

Just trying to work out the safest/least risky times for me to do things (not major things - just appointments and stuff!)

I’m on three weekly EC chemo and wondering when is usually the biggest risk of infection? Or when might the safest times to do things be?

Thanks!

I believe you are at your most vulnerable from day 5

I pretty much spent all my treatment time living a covid type lifestyle. I still got out for walks and saw people but always at a distance if I could. I avoided crowds at all costs. For hospital visits I sat away from people as much as possible and wore a mask. Hand sanitiser with me all the time and if anyone had a cold they were absolutely not allowed in my home. Sounds very paranoid doesnt it! It wasnt as stressful for me as it sounds though. I quite liked the peace from keeping myself distant a little bit. And I was very happy sitting in the car reading a book whilst my husband did the food shops  there were some perks

It’s a tricky one!

I had a dose of EC at the end of April right before my treatment regimen was changed and had all sorts of contact with others during the subsequent weeks such as attending various hospital appointments, including having cannulas put in for scans, and going out for low key social activities such as coffee, lunch etc. and nothing happened.

Had a dose of EC mid-August as part of my new treatment regimen and stayed in the house by myself all the following week with absolutely no physical contact with anyone and ended up being admitted to hospital being treated for neutropenic sepsis. :woman_shrugging:

The problem is that every one is different. I tended to do things as late as i could before the next chemo, and didn’t have any problems but that doesn’t mean that is would be the same for you. Have you tried asking your BCN as they would have more information on your particular case.
