How do I know if I’m out of the nadir phase? Whilst in this phase what do people do? Do you mix? Go into shops with masks? I’ve not had it explained. I’m on day 12 since EC first cycle x
Stafford you can call the number on here and speak to a nurse or post in the nurses section
I was on a 21 day cycle fec-T and my nadir phase was from around day 8-15/16 for me that was when my neutrophils usually ended up below 0. Everyone’s bodies copes with chemo differently and all chemo doses are tailored specifically to you
also do ring your team or mention at your next onc appointment
I personally after being hospitalised for 6 days after my first chemo didn’t go out between chemo infusions only for bloods and then the chemo on the day but that was my choice for me, all the others in our Oct-17 chemo gang still went out and did thing
you do what’s right for you and you are comfortable with
there are no rights and wrongs you just do what’s right for you

Thank you. I’ve phoned MacMillan and they advised that it’s hard to say when it will be. They work on the basis week 1 is treatment, week 2 is recovery and week 3 levels should be back up. As I’m day 12 I’m not going to mix with anyone indoors, I’ll watch my son play football instead!
each cycle can be different
hope the football goes well

Thank you xx
Hi @stafford22 , I haven’t changed a thing, went shopping on day of first EC, been for a meal and a coffee shop, had visitors and not masked but my friend has low immunity so we’ve been wearing a mask in their car.
That’s good to know. I haven’t been in any shops up to now, but will do next week x
What is nadir? I’ve never heard of this. I’m assuming it’s when your immunity is at its lowest?
It’s when your neutrophils are at their lowest, it depends on you chemo cycle, do ask your team so you know exactly when your nadir phase will be. But please be vigilant throughout chemo and always ring your rapid response number with any temp, burning wee, thrush mouth, anything always ring them do they can keep you safe:heart: you can always ask the nurses on the forum or ring the number on here and speak to a nurse who can advise you more about nadir too
