Nail Care

Sorry if there is already a thread running, but could not see it, stumbled across this today and bought it, anyone else used it?

Hi lisad,

Thank you for sharing this and I am sure any users who have used a similar product for their nails will be along soon to talk about their experiences :).

If you would like to you can also read our page onskin and nail changes or post your post on our chemotherapy top tips thread to allow more users to see it.

Best wishes,

Lizzy

Lisa - I’ve ordered this as well, because my fingers and nails are starting to suffer a bit from all the steroid-induced cleaning I’ve been doing. I hope you get yours soon - I had to wait quite a while for delivery. It arrived yesterday and I have only just started using it, so once you get yours, we can compare notes on how effective it is at protecting our nails! I’ve also started wearing rubber gloves to do jobs round the house that involve getting my hands wet, which I really should have done from the word go (silly!). And plastering my hands with hand cream after washing them. It doesn’t help that my husband keeps on at me to wash my hands all the time, which drives me mad. He might just about be satisfied that my hands are clean enough if I could go round with them permanaently soaked in a vat of disinfectant.

Hi ladies,

I thought it might be helpful to share this link with you, before you decide on any nail treatments, especially in salons -

I’ve still not been anywhere near a nail salon, but as a precaution I have continued to apply the Onicolife drops to my fingernails and toenails twice a day, morning and night. In between I have also been applying Dr Organic Tea Tree Oil for nails (also contains sweet almond oil). I have also been using Flexitol cuticle cream, but have now run out of this and can’t seem to get any more or any similar alternative products in the shops, so will probably have to order something online. Nails are a bit dry, but otherwise OK at the moment, although as I have only just started the T cycles I can’t afford to be complacent. As I’ve been using three different products on my nails, it is difficult to know which of them (if any!) is doing most good. Nurse has advised me to get some dark nail varnish for the T cycles, so I have (also had to get some remover), but I haven’t used it yet - I’ve never used the stuff before and don’t want to start now if I can help it!
