Hi, I’m due to start chemotherapy on 9th April and wondered if you are allowed to have shellac on your nails during treatment?
Thank you
Donna

Hi MrsJ13,
As you haven’t had a reply from the community about this yet, do feel free to post your question to our breast care nurses, you can usually expect a same day reply:

I hope they can help and good luck for your first chemo appointment on Tuesday.

I finished my chemo 5 weeks ago and wore Gel nails throughout. However, the last 3 chemos were Docetaxel and my nails started to hurt a few weeks ago. I had 2 nail breaks yesterday and have cut them short as they are now very weak and brittle. My nails are part of my mental health … so go for it… wear the nail varnish and enjoy it!!
Hi, my BC nurse advised dark nail polish, but not gels as she said the ultra violet light would irritate the nail beds as it interacts with the chemicals and radiotherapy.
Kept all my nails but they have dried out with the radiotherapy…as have my eyes. I use nail and cuticle oil, and always have IBX treatment with my manicures. Hope this helps. X
