naked in the rain!!
naked in the rain!! Picture this…lying on that very hard table thing having a radiotherapy zap…! 2 nurses to hand, one on either side of me, talking numbers and adjusting the equipment to match my stats…moving the bed one way, then another etc.etc…the room is dark and all you can see are the green laser lights above your head. In the background a local radio station is playing (I think this is supposed to take your mind off things…! yeah right…!). The two nurses leave the room, push some button or other from a safe distance and the frying commences…then…Black Pearl start to sing…‘take me dancing naked in the rain, feel it washing over me…oh,oh…join me dancing naked in the rain, cover me in ectacy…yeah…’ etc…etc… well I’m sorry but I cracked up. Ever really seen the funny side of something? lying there, aged 42, having radiotherapy, after chemo and preceeded by a mastectomy and to add insult to injury listening to ‘naked in the bloody rain…!!!’ is not what I had planned for myself.
love.

California Girls! Hi
For some reason the radiotherapy nurses thought it was hysterical to put on California Girls by the Beach Boys every day knowing that I hated the record…

as a good song how about i will survive
How about bedshaped by Keane. We spend so much time on those r*ddy flat beds (6 weeks for me) I’m suprised I didnt stay in that position for ever after!
I remember having conversations when the old contact buttons were still in use about how Keane songs were ‘strangely relevant to our situation’ (to quote slp who is sadly no longer with us). Even down to the album title Hopes and Fears!!

MRI music and tripping I’ve just come back from my 3rd MRI scan, - the one where you have to lie face down in a small tunnel and they bombard you with VERY loud sounds - anyone who has has one will be all too familiar with it, it’s much worse than the CT and bone scans where you can at least lie on your back and breathe freely!
Well, they fit you up with earphones and play quiet music, Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons was one of today’s selection, but you cannot hear anything but the machine when it’s working, it is really loud.
I managed to take myself off, mentally, to another place today, I imagined I was wading into the warm blue sea, climbed into a small boat, which took me past the mangroves to a coral reef, then I slipped effortlessly into the water, and snorkelled over the reef, admiring the fish, and trying to photgraph them with my underwater equipment - not easy whilst wearign a mask and snorkel.
As I was lying face down anyway, I managed this illusion so well, I left the dept with a big smile on my face, having had a quick trip to the tropics !
I think 8 sessions of chemo have addled my brain. I’ve got surgery next - where shall I go when they give me the anaesthetic?
