Nausea on Tamoxifen

Hi All

I have really been struggling now with nausea for over a week. I started tamoxifen mid September after a break from letrozole and zoladex. I was advised to stop taking these as I was putting on weight and couldn’t lose it.

Last night I had my tea as usual and I felt  extremely nauseous. To the point it made me panic. I had palpitations with it too, which was quite frightening.

I spoke to my GP on Thursday and she just said it was probably because of my hormone treatment and everything I have been through in the last year. Anyway she booked me in for bloods, blood pressure and ECG. The soonest appointment is a week on Monday. Not sure I can last that long as I feel terrible.

Has anyone had nausea on tamoxifen and have you changed your medication or been given anti sickness meds to help? Xx

Hi Sunflower

I can’t help you with tamoxifen (though any meds I have that may cause nausea I’m advised to take late at night - have you tried that?) I suffer from emetophobia (fear of vomiting) so nausea is anathema to me. You might find the homoeopathic remedy Nux Vom 30 helps (tasteless pillules that dissolve under the tongue). It’s safe to take and has seen me through the decades. During chemo, I was prescribed cyclizine which works for 6 hours and my GP still keeps me supplied so I can use them if I need one. Perhaps you could ask your GP to prescribe something to cover the period till you get to see her xx
