hi all, i’ve just had to switch chemo remine to this one - lapatinib and capacitabine and i’m freaking out about how many tablets i have to take and wondering if it’s all worth it? just getting acne rash and hating it
please let me know you’re all doing - need a chemo buddy
Hi Hannah, I have only been on the Capacitabine and recently finished an 8 month course of them. This is the second time I have been on them, the first time was about 3 years ago. It has certainly worked for me and my tumour markers have gone down while taking them. What do you mean by freaking out about how many tablets you need to take? The first time I was on them I was given more tablets but deveoped sore hands and feet. So this recent course reduced the numbers of tablets by half. (I also think your weight determins how many Capacitabine you are given). If you have any question please ask. If someone else replies and they are on exactly the same regime as you…that will probably be better…but until then I will be an " almost" or “passed it” chemo buddy for you. Take care, love Val
Hi Hannah. Several months ago I had 6 cycles of capecitabine/lapatanib, so am well aware of how you feel! However, it didn’t work me, so we had to discontinue it -please don’t be disheartened by that-we all repond in our unique ways. The main problem with this combination is that the side effects to both drugs are exactly the same-and so problems will be doubled, which is hard. I was covered in a rash-face and torso-even part of my legs. Problems with my feet were the worst, with blisters around the side and under my toes, which made wearing anything other than ugg boots extremely uncomfortable. The amount of tablets too became quite difficult to tolerate, and am quite sure that this contributed to some gastric issues which I had.
I hope you get fantastic results-and if you want any more specific thoughts on it, let me know! Good luck.
