need advice

hi everybody. im new here today, felt like i need someone to help me but i dont know who it could be! found your forum here and thought maybe i could get some advice. they found some kind of mass on a mammogram… just my annual. called me in for another mammogram , and had an ultrasoudn that day also. i was advised to get molecular breast imaging through my womens center. i had that test done. inconclusive. they decide i need an mri. had that, then theywanted an mri guided biopsy. had that. my test results from thelab were benign, however upon my relief of hearing that news, they want to remove the area anyways, and oi have an appointment scheduled with a surgeon. has anyone else had all this testing, i dont know i just feel like a big guinea pig. thanks forletting me bend ur ears!

Hi Syllvia

I went to the breast clinic with a lump, they could feel it, but it didn’t show on the mamogram and although they could see it with the ultrasound they said they weren’t sure what it was, so did a biposy.  The surgeon said that even if the results were clear she advised at my age (52) to have the lump removed.  My biopsy results were not good and I then went on to have an MRI and other stuff.

Different types of cancer seem to show up differently on the different types of scan.  I also apparently had firm breasts (surprise to me) which the nurse said makes it more difficult for them to see what is going on. (Thats why they don’t routinely do mamograms in UK until 50)

I guess with you they can see there is something out of the ordinary there and have tried all their tests, but have not found anything conclusive. If you do have the lump removed they will do further tests on it to be double sure.  My breast surgeon has turned out to be a wise woman for me.  If my lump had been benign she would have removed it too - but at least she told me that on day 1.  Try not to worry.  Easier said that done I know.
