This is my first post so i hope I’ve done what I’m supposed to?!
I had a lumpectomy and removal of sentinel nodes at the end of May, diagnosed at the beginning of April through routine mammogram. Can’t fault the care and kindness shown by the team who’ve supported me through this and really impressed with the speed of everything.
Got my pathology results back last Thursday, all clear, which is brilliant. Have an assessment for radio therapy in mid July after which i should begin my hormone therapy - letrozole. Must say the side effects sound horrendous coupled with the things that may happen as a result of the radiotherapy. I’m feeling very low.
I go back to work on Wednesday. I have finally been able to stop wearing the post surgery bra at night, so unpleasant through this heatwave. I’ve been wearing a loose fitting sports type bra with minimal support. Great for home but not work.
I have a short torso and so the bras roll up under my busy whether they are small or large bands (under bust measurements). I still have swelling in my breast and the nipple is higher up than the other, although I’ve been told that will settle.
I’ve gone through so many bras and nothing works. I’m either bulging from the underarm, it’s squashing me flat at the front or rolling up front and back. The kind ladies at M&S measured me, 36/38 D.
What have you tried that doesn’t make your chest look like an enormous jelly roll?
Hi there I’m Heth and I had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed in March of this year, I was advised to get bras from Macom by my surgeon. They are a bit more expensive but have been amazing as they are compression bras. I have had minimal Bruising and pain, as I couldn’t have jiggle. I still wear them now as Jiggle is still uncomfortable. Plus I have just finished radiotherapy and the compression does help. Amazon has good bras also. I’d recommend going to John Lewis to browse if you can or look at the options online on Next as it’s easy to return stuff and they have loads of brands.
Thank you Heth. Yes i bought 2 of the zipped front compression bras from Amoena, they were great for keeping everything in place and really helped with the swelling. Wore them 24/7 for nearly 5 weeks. Looks like i might need them after radiotherapy?
I just wanted something a bit less intense until i face the treatment.
I’ve not been told to wear compression bras after radiotherapy. I was in thin cotton ones as letting the air circulate and avoiding friction was key. I was told to go braless at home but am too big for that as I wanted to keep my breasts away from my chest wall so I wore thin crop top bras.
Hi. I’m new here too and struggling with bras. I’m currently wearing M&S post recovery ones after wide local excision and sentinal node bx on 19th. The front fastening idea is great but is very obvious (to me) through clothes. I’ve been able to wear over the head ones at night, though they don’t really offer support. I may re think once I have results and a plan on Thursday though. Hope that helps. Dianne
I have tried many different bras and find the padded ones a bit too warm and a bit too much padding
I find the unpadded bralets at Marks a bit better but you need to try the different sizes to see which is best for you
I am a36c if you are bigger these may not offer enough support

I’m going to M&S later this week. I did get a couple of bras from there but even though they were from the fitting service they weren’t quite right
Never thought it would be such a pain. I should be getting a couple of t-shirt ones from Boody tomorrow too. I will get there but this is a pain i don’t need!
I have also had a lumpectomy and my Lymph nodes out and I got the following Bras from Amazon they have been admired and I find them so comfy. I hope this helps.

Hello! I also wore the Oxibras from Amazon. Mine are the ‘jelly front closure post surgery’ ones. They have four poppers on the front which I found useful. Sometimes I’d leave one or two poppers open if I was more swollen. They have removable pads too
I recommended these to my friend who had surgery after me & she found them good too. Good luck

The poppers are so secure. I think they are true to size but I always order bigger which is what people suggest too after an op. With Amazon you can send them back so easily so worth trying.
Hi Oriana, finding the right bra for your unique shape and pathway feels challenging - I’ve been there. I tried a lot of mastectomy bras and struggled to find a comfortable fit as well as finding the aesthetic that I wanted. For ladies with a D cup or larger, high street store Bravissimo have been really helpful for me. They are very familiar with helping ladies who have had surgery. Best to book a fitting and tell them about your specific needs. They fit by eye (they call us ladies ‘complex fittings ’ . They don’t sell post surgery bras, but I have full cup bras (Fantasie are my personal favourite) which I find great - very comfortable and they hold my prosthesis securely. It won’t work for everyone but you might want to give them a try? I’ve been back several times and have recently bought a sports bra that’s working well for me too. They also have very pretty styles. Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you.
My nearest Bravissimo is about an hour’s drive, I’ve been recommended them by a good friend too. I would prefer a face to face fitting, as you say we are “complex”, in more ways than one!
