Need to return for second US and biopsy, I'm a mess

Hello, I’ve recently joined as I’ve had an ultrasound and biopsy on a lump in my right breast that I found a few weeks ago. GP first said it’s probably just a fibrous thing, the surgeon at the clinic thought it was just glandular tissue but the Dr who did the US said it was a bit irregular so had to take a biopsy which was core needle and 3 samples taken.

After a grueling wait, I had a check up appointment with my GP who managed to tell me that it all came back as fine / normal tissue as she had the results before the clinic called me. I was relieved but today the clinic called me to say I needed to go back to have another ultrasound and biopsy as the biopsy results all showed regular breast tissue so they want to make sure they didn’t actually miss the lesion when taking the samples which can be done apparently.

So now I’m back at square 1 having to wait and it’s absolute torture :sob: the US initially scored a U3, so indeterminate.

Has anyone been in a similar position and had a good outcome? I’ve been an absolute mess today

Hi @kezza3

How awful for you to be kept in turmoil. So sorry you are in this situation. On a positive note, they are being super thorough and want to be 100% certain with the result. The test came back negative what are the chances that they missed the target when they do these tests everyday. Go with they are looking after you and want to do the best by you. Keep it positive .

Xxxxx

Thank you so much for your words  I am definitely trying to stay positive, I was thinking would they have missed all 3 samples if they do this sort of thing often? I did thank the consultant and said I am thankful that you are just being thorough to make sure. I have what will feel like a very long wait again so will try and keep busy. Xxx
