Hi there
I’ll not say I’m pleased to see you as this is not a club I’d wish on anybody, but welcome. There are some wonderful ladies on here - and gents, and you’ll get loads of support.
There are a number of us on the neo - tAnGo trial, at various stages. If you look on the category “undergoing treatment, chemotherapy” you’ll find a recent thread.
I’m starting the chemo this Friday and, to me, this is a very useful trial. I was given a pile of leaflets on it but, basically, they are looking to see in which order the treatments are most effective and whether, by adding an extra drug, they are actually making a difference or not.
There are other parts to the trial that are entirely optional, these can involve a questionnaire at various stages/ ultrasound scans/ biopsies. The entire trial is voluntary and you’d be free to pull out of any part or all of it at any time. For myself though, I thought that as I am going down the chemo first route then it would make sense to be a part of a trial. The chemo drugs used are all tried and tested so we are not really guinea pigs as such.
The decision though is yours. Read up about it, talk to the trials nurse and to the chemo nurses and think about it.
bestest regards
Ruth

Hello

I am currently on the Neo-Tango trial, its hard to imagine that I’ve just got one more dose to left go, it was such a huge mountain to climb right back at the beginning. The cold cap is a tough one to decide, I didn’t bother, I was basically told it wasn’t worth it, and by the 2nd treatment my hair had completely gone, I had pac and gem first followed by EC. Good luck on your journey,

Debbie

Hi

I have also just started the Neotango trial on arm B1. Also started same diagnosis as yourself Invasive Ductal stage 2 but quickly went to a 3 so chemo started earlier than expected and had Sentinal Node Biopsy 2 days after 1st chemo last week. I can’t tell you whether you should go on the trial or not just gain as much info as you can to make an informed choice. As Quisie (Ruth) says we are not guinea pigs as the drugs are already effective and from what a couple of the ladies are saying the results are looking good. If it helps in the future great. But don’t let anyone pressure you it’s your body, your choice. Write down any questions you want to ask your Onc Nurse as many as you like it helps as don’t know about you but I end up forgetting some questions that are important to me to ask when there. Even though you can always call them after and even if you go on the trial if you are not happy you can come out of it no questions asked.

Wishing you well and all the other ladies, be good to keep a Neotango thread going along the way. If anyone else on this thread or who answered mine on undergoing chemo section could let me know what there diagnosis is and how they are doing I would really appreciate it, not trying to be nosey I just personally would like to compare and share etc. Sorry Bellusci to have nicked a bit of your thread there.

Take care and you will get so much support and info on this site don’t be afraid to ask anything or if you feel down and just want a rant we are all here for you.

Hi to you all

As you say quisie not a club to want to be in but here we are, cheers for all your info done the reading and some reseaching via my niece who works in medical research - her thoughts much the same not guinea pigs as tried and tested drug just the order in which to give and with what so here goes made the decision to go with it. Feeling its gonna be a long journey but determined to get there. Good luck to you all. Reading the feedbacks it would seem that some people on the trial are getting good results so we have nothing to loose. Thanks for the info on the cold cap one i am still not decided on maybe give it a miss enough to go through without an extra bashing i feel. Don’t feel so alone now so many others in the same boat and at different stages and support is what we all need. Take care and here to talk to.
