Nervously waiting for biopsy results

Wow, you were super busy last week! Glad to hear your genetics results were clear and you have your oncology appointment soon.

What does the clinical trial entail? Do you think you’ll do it?

I’ve got my surgery date through today, 24th March. I thought it would be sooner than that, I have another month to wait. Is this normal? Feels like forever since my referral and it’s making me anxious. x

It’s a gel which you rub on your breast before radiotherapy to see if it reduces the effects on the skin. It would mean I can’t use any other creams and would have extra appointments and blood tests, I’m not sure at the moment.

When was your initial referral? I hope the time passes quickly for you, mine was 7 weeks from initial referral to surgery but because of a cancellation, it was planned for later, I was lucky but had less than a week to get ready which included Christmas, I suppose there was less time to worry

I suppose the trials do come with the extra appointments and monitoring, but it might benefit you in the long run.

I was first referred on 2nd Jan, so it will be about 11 weeks from then and 8 weeks from diagnosis. Just seems so long, but what can I do? I did have the option of surgery at another hospital in the trust which would see me quicker, but it was 1.5 hours away instead of 30 mins and it was just a bit too far.

Oh that’s a long way, I would rather wait too. It will be here before you know it x

There’s 3 groups, 1 just gets a placebo.
