Hello ladies,
Fifteen years ago, I was due to have an operation - but it was cancelled at the last minute because of my pre-operation anxiety. I was absolutely overwhelmed, and that experience led me on a journey to find better ways to manage my mind and emotions. That’s when I discovered Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and it completely changed my life.
Since then, I’ve not only used NLP personally in every area of my life, but I’ve also gone on to train others in it through my company, where I teach NLP, coaching, and leadership. I’ve seen first-hand how these tools can help people feel calmer, more confident, and more in control of their thoughts - even in the toughest of times.
Then came breast cancer - and suddenly, all those tools I’d been teaching were put to the ultimate test. There were moments when my mind was racing, when fear or uncertainty crept in, and I had to remind myself to reach for the very techniques I’d shared with so many others.
That experience inspired me to write ‘The Wrong Avocado: A gentle guide to easing the emotional journey through cancer.’ It’s part story, part toolkit - sharing the exact mindset strategies that helped me through treatment and recovery. My hope is that it offers comfort, reassurance, and practical ways to make the emotional side of cancer just a little bit easier to bear.
You can find ‘The Wrong Avocado’ on Amazon, or order it through most bookshops. And if you prefer to listen, the Audible version will be coming very soon!
If you’re going through your own journey, or supporting someone who is, I hope my story reminds you that healing really does begin from within - and that you have more inner strength than you might think.
Much love to you all,
Emma x
