last year I had a grade 2 stage 2 ER +ve invasive lobular Cancer left Breast. Had 2 WLE and SNB. Lymph nodes were clear. Recently swapped meds from Anastrozole to Exemestane because of side effects. I have mild lymphoedema (unlucky there) I also had 18 sessions of radiotherapy including 3 booster sessions which were completed last Sept.
last week whilst on holiday and in brightly lit en suite I noticed slight indentation and a small lump in left Breast (on outer side and well away from original problem), which appears to be tethered to skin. Am assuming that it must be a new growth (rather than recurrence) and am terrified. I had my first year follow up in July and apart from still having a seroma was told everything was fine, and now I spot this. I have been offered an appt at Breast clinic on Thursday of next week.
i gather you can only have radiotherapy to a breast once. Does this mean I’ll have to have Chemo or does it depend on grade and stage?
If I need a mastectomy, will I be able to have immediate reconstruction or would it be too soon after rads?
is it possible they might perform another WLE?
Do they routinely carry out complete axillary node clearance?
i know I’m rather leaping ahead, but would be grateful to hear about experiences of others who’ve been in this situation.
