New here & having one of those days x

Hello. I am new here so thought I’d say hello. I was diagnosed a month ago with a 41mm invasive lobular ER positive BC. The worst thing has been al the waiting, alongside having 2 family members who are gravely Ill & receiving critical care. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so stressed. I can’t work for worrying & feel isolated. I’m using complimentary therapies & exercise to manage the stress & I finally meet the surgeon this week to get a plan. I’m hoping that will help. I’m dreading the treatments and just want my life back. I think I’m having a bad day xx

Be kind to yourself. It’s normal to have bad days. I hope work are being supportive. I felt so stressed and upset but my work have been amazing and giving me the time to get better. It really has taken the pressure off me mentally.

I was diagnosed early sept and feel like the world has stopped. For me anyway. I’m sorry to hear you are going through so much. Just need to take one day at a time. Every meeting gives me more to think about but also hopeful I have a final plan this week.

I’ve got to a point where I think talking will be helpful so I am going to visit Maggies tomorrow or call the bcn call centre. I think it might be helpful to talk to someone neutral. Good luck. You will get there. Just take it one day at a time. Best advice I was given.

Well done for introducing yourself.
We can all relate to how you feel. They waiting, other things going on in our lives, the feeling that nobody else understands, and wanting a life back.
Do use this site to get things out in the open and ask questions.
I have found that talking to other ladies on here or who I know personally, who have had similar diagnosis are so empathetic and eager to give advice, it reduces the feeling of isolation, that others really know what you are going through.
You have to put yourself in the hands of others who will help you. That’s what I found hard. Not being in control.
You are allowed to have bad days. There will also be good days x

Thanks for the kind answer. It sounds like we are at a similar point re diagnosis and getting a treatment plan. Glad your work has been supportive. My colleagues really have been amazing. I think we have just had a catalogue of very difficult things to contend with, so I might follow your lead and head to the advice centre after seeing the consultant tomorrow. Keep us posted re your journey. Hugs xx

Thank you for the lovely message. It’s certainly a rollercoaster isn’t it. Glad you’ve found this space supportive and let us know how things go for you xx

Hi

I am 51 and was diagnosed in July but not posted before. I have ER and PR positive breast cancer, with 2 tumours (multifocal). I had surgery on the mid Aug (therapeutic mammoplasty, so tumour removal and reduction of the other breast).
Started Exemestane and Zoladex prior to surgery. Also no lymph node involvement and CT clear (hoorah) No chemo (had Oncotype test), but radiotherapy and, 6 monthly bisphosphonate after radiotherapy. Exemestane and Zoladex for several years.

I understand the feeling of guilt, I feel that I am so lucky compared to other people and this may sound odd, but don’t feel I have cancer. Have worked throughout apart from a week post surgery. Feel a bit of a fraud!!
Had my radiotherapy planning appointment today and felt quite teary afterwards and felt overwhelmed. Not sure if reality maybe kicking in!

Reading a lot of the posts and this and the website is really helpful as I live a long way from a Maggie’s centre, so good to connect online

All the best to all.

Hi @sarahbear

I hope that the meeting with your surgeon went well. We are thinking of you.

Sending our warmest,
Lucy

Hello sarahbear,

I am truly sorry to hear about everything that you are currently going through. Cancer affects so many of us either directly or through loved ones and there are no words to describe how awful it is.

It’s ok to have bad days sometimes but just remember to stay positive through it all. I hope you are feeling less stress after meeting the surgeon.

There is a new health platform called HExSOS that might be helpful to you. It has lots of questions and answers on Breast Cancer including complementary medications and home remedies.

I hope you find it useful.
