New here - triple positive, chemo soon

Hi, I was diagnosed on the last day of August, my results are coming in dribs and drabs - it’s been a very stressful few weeks since I found the lump! I saw my consultant yesterday, who says I have triple positive invasive ductal something or other (will be seeing oncologist next week!), and I have a CT scan on Friday. Consultant is hoping chemo will start next week. Will be having a port fitted (installed? not sure of the terminology!).

From diagnosis to all of this feels like an absolute whirlwind, and like it’s happening to someone else. When I know more and start chemo I hope to join the chemo thread for September.

Oh, and I’m 60  and always been fit and well up until now.

Just wanted to say hi to all.

@eaudenil Hi,sorry to hear that you have joined the club no-one wants to be a member of.This forum is so supportive and I have found it to be a great source of support.I was diagnosed with Triple negative breast cancer on March 28th this year.I remember just feeling like i had been picked up and put on a very fast rollercoaster with all the appts, different professionals etc.All i can say as I am coming to the end of my chemotherapy in Oct is it all seems impossible until its not😁.I had a PICC line fitted and it has been a god send.A lot of ladies i see at chemotherapy have a port and they say the same thing. That not having to worry about having to find veins for blood and treatment is one less worry. I wish you all the best on your journey. Each month that people start Chemotherapy there will be a group on here.Im on the May one as that is when i started chemotherapy, it is really supportive and everyone is usually on the same timeframe as each other xx

Hi, welcome.
I found a lump at the beginning of April. Like you say it’s a whirlwind of appointments etc. I too am triple positive, but the HER2 was originally negative so I had surgery first. It wasn’t until a biopsy was done on the tumour that it was found to be HER2, so now I am having chemo. I have a PICC line fitted and it’s great. People also say the port is just as good.
I am 61 so a similar age.
All the best with your treatment.

Hi @eaudenil , it is s scary rollercoaster at first but pleased to hear things sre moving quickly. I had a port fitted and it was great, no trouble at all, you csn just ignore it and shower normally etc. I think its a shame more people dont have this option. It can seem like a dauntingly long road but you will find the support and information you get from this forum invaluable. I’ m at the other end of the process having had chemo and surgery and now recovering before a short course of rsdiotherapy, i couldn’t have coped without the great ladies on here. All the best.

Hello and sorry to see you have joined this forumn!
However there is a lot of supportive people to help you along your journey… any questions feel free to ask!
I was diagnosed in June at 33! Could not believe it… i think i had an outer body experience. Anyway mine is HER2 positive… so if yours is tripple positive then you will be her2 too im presuming… so you will get targeted therapies along with chemotherapy which is a good thing in a way! The more you are positive for the more that can be thrown at it. It all seems daunting but once they tell you your plan and you get started it gets a lot easier! After my first round of chemo i noticed a massive difference in mt breast and even more so on round 2… i had my third round yesterday too so i am half way through as i am having 6 rounds of chemo. Good luck but i am sure you will be fine :heart_hands: jemma x
