hi all
not bad but under my arm is very sore waiting for district nurse to come and remove my stitches they feel sore i also think i have a seroma building up which is making it worse, will ring tommorrow to try and get it sorted out,
hello evie
sorry you have had to join us, they gave me a bag to carry my drains in, looked abit like roy cropper (corrie)i was terrified to have drains taken out because i had had a bad experience when i had a ceserian, but the drains in my side i didnt feel when they came out,
keep coming on here and everyone will give you good advise,
take care all julie x
Hi Evie, just saw your worry re drains…I had a WLE and SNB and had two drains, one for each wound, they were great at our hosp as the bottles were kept in a sort of cloth bag with a drawstring that was attached to something akin to a dressing gown belt that was tied to your waist so we were hands free, amd the nurses did there best to match your bags to your jimjams !
Re the drains tho,I’m the biggest wuss ever and our surgeon didn’t let us out til drains were out,so I was in 4 four days and the drains came out no problem at all.
Don’t scare yourself too much reading too far ahead, good luck and keep chatting.

Op thursday afternoon.
BCN says i maybe able to go home that day but it will prob be the next day.
Focusing on one step at a time and regardless of the fact i work in hospital i make one badddd patient!
Wish i knew how the op would pan out as consultant said it may change if they find something else and i dread waking up to an unexpected mastectomy with full auxillar clearance!
I like order…just figured cancer doesnt respect that huh?
Hi Eviee
I to have quite a young family not as young as yours but I had decided that because of children and loads of support from granparents and hubbys work I would stay in till drains came out which sister on ward was in agrement with me …
I Was sent to a private hospital through nhs as surgen said wait was going to be to long to get me in nhs hospital…
I do hope the reason I had the choice to stay in until drains came out had nothing to do with being in a fantastic private hospital …
The stay was better than any medicine and the staff had so much time for you when I did go home I felt ready which I do think helped me to come to turmes with what I had just been through …Oh and I never felt drains come out …
Dont read into it to much take one step at a time
Good Luck you will get through this and there is loads of suport on here
all the best Lisa
hi
i was with the nhs, but because i had children 9 and 6 they gave me my own room, and stayed in hospital 6 days incl day before op, evie don1t try and rush out to soon, think my kids survived on mcdonalds and bread but they are fine, you certainly need the rest after your op,good luck for your op thursday take it easy, lots of tips on here ,the one from lisa with the sports bras was great, going tommorrow to have my seroma drained ready for my weekend in blackpool
hugs to all julie x
You know, you mums worry so much about your kids, but in a way it’s quite good for them to have a period when mummy isn’t their slave, when mummy needs for them to be a bit understanding - they learn that they aren’t the centre of the universe, that life isn’t always “fair.” The people who grow up psychologically the strongest are those who have had some problems in their lives, while knowing they’re loved - people who never have any problems when they’re young don’t learn that they can cope, don’t learn any strategies, so if (when) trubbble hits them later it can be more devastating.
Julie hope you enjoy Blackpool dont forget the kiss me quick hat …
and loads of rock …lol
I find it very hard to just let my husband get on with things as he
is lovely but a bit hopeless! i know he can cope but ive been a full time mum for 2 yrs now and i dont like leaving others to do stuff!
crazy but true. also my 2yr old talks “toddler” and whilst i can understand her, he cant and it drives her wild!!! tantrums ahoy.
BCN just called saying i will be in over night and that she will come and see me after the op! hoorah! not…
just a quick update for you lovely ladies, just been today and had drain out, evie, nothing to worry about, just a snip of a stitch and a 2 second pull and it was over, nothing to worry about.
Like julie, my main discomfort after mastectamy and lymph nodes is the soreness under my arm, but with lots of rest we will get through this.
Also got a date today for my results, 21st may. will just have to try and relax while i wait for that one.
My policy now is just tackle this jurney one stage at a time, dont read too far ahead, will end up worrying about things that may never even affect us.
Take care of yourselves luv paulinexxx
hi

julie - did you say you’re on facebook? I am - blame daughter for that one but it is addictive - if you want to add me let me know and we can sort it - don’t worry if not - I’m not that mad…mwah haha…mary x
…or was it pauline…see, brain is hopeless…in fact if anybody is on it and wants to add friends just shout!! mary x
having one of them days today, I have 11 days to wait for results from mastectamy and i can’t stop crying. I think its finally hit me, i just keep wondering who will live longer, me or the pup we have just had. I know that sounds daft but thats how i feel today.
Luv to you all xxx
added you pauline…me too, crap day…mary x
Hollymeg, when I first found out I was wondering who would live longer, me or the carton of milk! But in the end I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not going to spend my time worrying about it - if I don’t have much time, I don’t want to waste any of it, and if I have plenty of time it would have been pretty pointless fretting!
Oh, but a new puppy - what a wonderful distraction.
