New lumps & bumps

Hey you beautiful bunch,

I stumbled upon this forum a few weeks ago looking for some reassurance when I found my first lump. An, I just love the support and realism.

Since then, I went to my GP regarding my small pea size lump in my left breast. During that appt, my GP did a through examination and she found confidently the 1x1 lump I had found. That was reassuring, to say the least.

Following that the GP checked my right breast where she went on to tell me she is “more concerned regarding the mass found in the medial right breast”

I have been referred very promptly to the breast clinic via 2ww, which I have been given my appointment for. However, I just found myself wanting to come here to see if anybody else found the wording of ‘faster diagnosis breast surgery appointment’ on the referral intimidating?

Also, I would love to hear similar stories. I want the raw reality.

I have only told my husband thus far as I know everyone means well but I just find the “you’ll be fine”, “it’s a cyst” etc etc quite condescending.

Well, yours was much more gently worded than my referral. Mine said “suspected breast cancer”!

I’ve had a total of six lumps investigated at the breast clinic since November 2024 and out of those six we have one breast cancer diagnosis, four cysts and one other thing that came back as benign after a biopsy but no one actually knows what exactly it is. Since we do know it’s definitely not cancer, I’ll take it.

The truth about the whole process is that you just don’t know until you know. And that is the absolute worst part about it.

Ooohh, yes, thay definitely puts mine into perspective.

I’ve read on here multiple times that the odds are in my favour. So, I’m trying to remain grounded and prepare for the worst but be optimistic for the best.

I’ve tried my hardest not to feel for the lump that thw Dr could feel too. I think I justwant to see what the experts feel. I’m a 36G so maybe I just have lumpy breasts:woman_shrugging:t2:

Good morning,

I just thought I’d share my update. I got to my appointment and the nurse could feel both lumps in the same areas.

I was then sent through for my ultrasound, where they found nothing in either breast. So, thankfully for me, a positive outcome.

It feels so uncouth to say, however, I just don’t feel as relieved as I should. Almost, apprehensive still.

Well that’s good news!

Breast tissue is funny stuff as a breast consultant told me when he aspirated a cyst a few years ago. Glad your lumps weren’t worrisome.

So glad the ultrasound didn’t find anything sinister.

As @bluetit11 mentions, breast tissue is funny stuff! Mine is very dense and I can feel all sorts when I check my breasts. I have a particularly large hard area in one of them that feels terrifying to touch but on an ultrasound, it shows as nothing but breast tissue.

I’ve found ultrasounds to be a very reliable imaging method in my experience and I trust them.

Obviously keep checking your breasts regularly and get anything odd looked at but congratulations! x
