Hello, I was recently diagnosed with an slow growing invasive ductal carcinoma grade 1 in July, and had a lumpectomy on 6th September plus a SNB. The surgery went well, with clear margins and clear nodes. I’m now awaiting an initial oncology appointment on 2 November to discuss adjuvant treatments. I’m a little frustrated at the time this is all taking. However taking my time to read up on others experiences and treatments through reliable sites such as this. Really appreciate the information on here, which I will digest over the next few weeks. It will prove an invaluable resource. Thank you to everyone contributing.
I’m a keen cyclist, and would like to get back to sport and fitness activities, hopefully in the not too distant future.
Sending positive thoughts to all on here going through this experience.
I too am a keen cyclist and itching to get back on my bike, going for walks just isn’t the same.
I was diagnosed with a triple negative grade 3 2mm IDC and 23mm high grade DCIS on 5th August following a recall from a routine mammogram. I had a WLE with therapeutic mammoplasty and SNB on 19th September. Got the news on Tuesday that margins and lymph nodes were clear and that no trace of the IDC was found, just 28mm of DCIS. It seems all the IDC was removed during a vacuum assisted biopsy on 22nd July!
I am now waiting for an appointment to see an oncologist. My surgeon thinks that I will just need radiotherapy and no other treatments, I hope the oncologist agrees. My case was supposedly being discussed at a MDT meeting yesterday and a BCN was going to phone me yesterday afternoon to update me but she hasn’t. After the initial relief of finding that all the cancer was removed by surgery I am now once again in the frustrating limbo of waiting for appointments and treatment.
I am recovering well from surgery and tempted to have a very gentle go on my spin bike but maybe I am being too impatient. I really miss going to spinning classes and the gym.
I hope the rest of your treatment goes well and that you are soon back on your bike xx
I have just been diagnosed with grade 2 idc. I am 45 op in a couple of weeks the radiotherapy within the next month. Question why treatment is taken more than a month
