I am happy to find a place where people having breast cancer like me can share experiences. I was diagnosed almost 3 years ago, I had double mastectomy, then chemotherapy, radiatiation and finally last december the cosmetic reconstructive surgery. I have been using Tamoxifenfor two years. The reason why I found this place is because my concerns about tamoxifen and leg cramps… my oncologist jus ttold me it was aneurological damage from chemotherapy and it would take time toimprove… I was suspecting it was Tamoxifen. I have read here that many women have had that cramps while taking tamoxifen.

Yesterday I just started having vaginal bleeding (I did not have any period for long time) and I am very concerned about this. I will post my concerns in another topic to share my experience.

Thanks.

Lif.

Hi LIf

It sounds like you’re having a tough time at the moment.  Whilst you are waiting for the other users to reply with their experiences do give the BCC helpline a call on 0808 800 6000.  Here you can talk through your thoughts and concerns with a member of staff who will offer you a listening ear as well as emotional support and practical information.  Lines are open Monday to Friday 9 to 5pm and Saturday 10 to 2pm.

Best wishes Sam, BCC Facilitator

Hi Lif

I had a double mastectomy last september and am now taking Tamoxifen. I didn’t need radioterapy or chemotherapy so I could have immediate reconstruction. The only side effects i am having are hot sweats at night but not sure if that is the menopause either!! I had a period after nothing for 6 months, will be having a blood test to see what it is. I am 49 so don’t know what my body could be doing.

Sorry I haven’t been much help re leg cramps, follow it up if you are concerned for too long.

I wish you well
