Hi everyone. I’m so pleased to have found out about this group. I’ve recently been diagnised with SBC in the spine 20 years after primary BC,so still getting my head around it . I’m  sure I’ll find the  group helpful and supportive.

Hi Catherine, sorry you have had to join us but welcome. We are a friendly bunch and are always on hand to help/advice.

There is a thread called “bone mets” which is where most of us boney ladies usually hang out, you will find lots of support on there, also we have lots of giggles too!

Hugs Janette xxxx

Hello Catherine and welcome to the forum …we are all real people here with lots of help and knowledge ( not me as I’m as much help as a chocolate teapot)
It’s surprising just as we think we have beaten the bc …it come back to party in our bones …mine came back after 11 years and caught me on the hop too but I’m still here so must be grateful that after 20 months I still enjoy a quality of life. .bit different to what I did have but I now can stop and smell the roses instead of being like a duracell bunny and dashing around juggling so many balls in the air !!
Please join us on bone mets …and keep us up to date how you are with treatments etc .
Once again a big welcome xxxx

Welcome Catherine,

Enjoy the group and let us know how things go xx

Hi I’m Sylvie,  glad to join the group.

I had breast cancer 11 years ago then in Feb 2017 found I have bone only sbc.

I had radiotherapy on my hips which helped with the pain.

I am having Zometa 4 weekly and getting a lot of aches in my hips when I walk for a week or so after the treatment.

Could taking Glucosamine help?

I have been experimenting with cocodamol and paracetamol etc, any advice on pain relief gratefully received.

I have been to one sbc meet up at Mount Vernon Hospital near London, but I haven’t felt up to the journey since then, although I did find it helpful.

Hello sylvie
Welcome to the forum and it would seem like Catherine and myself …the little blighters have caught up with us again after a long time …just as we thought we could grow old disgracefully! !!
I have denosumab bone injections and get aches and pains after it too …but hopefully it’s healing pain and good !!
I try to avoid painkillers and use a heat pad or hot water bottle as much as I can but sometimes feel the need to pop a ibuprofen which I find best for bone pain. I take cod liver oil daily to stop the bones creaking too …
Hugs xxx

Welcome Sylvie and I do hope the pain eases soon xx

Hello sylvie
Sometimes the rub on creams like deep heat or ibrupren gel are quite good too if you use them before you set off on your shopping trip !!
Hugs xx
