I have ILC in left breast, I had lumpectomy 7 weeks ago on outer upper area.
I have an old scar on inner upper area of breast that had started to crease and consultant is a bit unsure about , roughly a week ago I have developed orange peel skin and inflammation.
Should I be worried about this or is it just a result of surgery. I’m due to see oncologist on Monday to discuss radiation and hormone therapy.
Changes to the breast tissue and skin can happen after surgery for breast cancer, it’s not uncommon for the breast to become swollen or change shape while it is healing. It sounds like you have developed the orange peel and inflammation since seeing your consultant, so we would suggest contacting your breast care nurse or treatment team to let them know, as they may want to assess this in the clinic and rule out possible causes, such as post op infection or breast lymphoedema.
You can also mention it to your oncologist on Monday when you see them to discuss radiotherapy and hormone treatment.
