Hi , I am a full time working mum of 3 and I have recently had a preventative double mastectomy after being diagnosed with BRCA1 approx 18 months ago. I was initially referred for genetic testing as my sister was diagnosed with BC at 30 (I’m 34) and also a strong family history. The last 18 months have been traumatic reaching a decision to remove healthy breasts, and whilst the worry of developing BC was greater I had my surgery 8 weeks ago, which was instant relief for me, I now can’t help but feel overwhelmed by it all and guilty for feeling like this as my sister went through so much (chemo, radio, mastectomy) without so much as a whimper. Not sure where to turn as I don’t want to burden my family? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated . Thanks. Nic
