New primaries, or breast cysts?

Hi
I have an appointment for a triple assessment on my remaining breast. I’m hoping they’re cysts, or something benign. Has anyone ever heard of someone getting new primaries six weeks or so after finishing chemo?

On Tuesday when I mentioned to my oncologist that I had a new, hard, solid lump on my good breast (with still one chemo session to go) he examined me, said it could be a cyst or similar and was highly unlikely to be anything sinister as my 5 cycles of chemo would have zapped it dead by now. My breast consultant also examined me 5 minutes later and said much the same thing, adding that the chances of it being sinister were very, very miniscule.
I do hope, and have everything crossed the news will be as good as mine was. xxx

Thank you, comments much appreciated. I visited the Maggies site yesterday and asked one of the nurses on there if she had ever heard of anyone having a new cancer so soon after chemo. This is what she said:

“Truthfully, very occasionally there was found to be cancer…but it was rare, and I’m not just saying that. Putting it in perspective, I would have several ladies a month who would phone up post chemo with new lumps in same or other breast…and we would put them all through the triple assessmnet process just to double check. It was very rarely that a new cancer was found. It would be very unusual to have a new breast cancer so soon after such significant treatment…and I’m still wondering if hormonal changes due to arimidex have caused some lumpiness…as although it’s not a common side effect, I’ve heard it happening before, and the person had to have her medicine changed…”

What a b-----! You must be wondering when is it all going to end? Keep chin up and hope it is just your body reacting to all the stuff that it is having to put up with. Best wishes Katy.

Good news, I had an ultra sound scan and they couldn’t find any lumps, just normal breast tissue. Tenderness in breast was caused by inflammation in some of my ribs. So that’s that. I can hopefully get on with the rest of my life taking Anastrazole. I have my first mammogram since treatment in January.
