Hiya all, I have just been diagnosed with Her2+ Lobular Grade 3. I am going in next Monday 2nd April for a double mastectomy - my choice as I didn’t want to keep looking down and thinking what if?
Have been on a pure raw fuit and veg diet for 4 weeks now, losing weight, feeling fit apart from the pain in my boob.
Just wondered if anyone has heard of the beneficial properties of Paw paw fruit and Sour sop fruit?
I know the diet is extreme, but I want to feel in slight control of this crazy life changing event!
Go through days of anger/disbelief/confusion/sadness/immense worry and fighting positive hope and spirit and round again. Feel like I’ve been hit by a truck! My lovely hubby says he will love me with or without boobs and my 9 year old son said that I didn’t need them anymore as he wasn’t a baby! Getting through a day at a time. Best wishes to all ! x
Hello Becky and welcome to the club nobody wants to join!
I’m sure someone with a similar diagnosis will be along soon - things are probably a bit slower today because of the glorious weather - but in the meantime, I just wanted to say that I’m sorry you’ve had to join us. It sounds like you have a really supportive family, but sometimes it helps to come here and “chat” to people who’ve been there and get it. The range of emotions you’re going through is completely normal, of course, as is the need to take control of some aspect of your treatment. Once things get underway, it generally gets easier to deal with - the waiting is the hardest part in many respects. And getting through one day at a time is really the only way to do it!
BTW, there was discussion about the benefits of soursop on an American website recently. PM me if you’d like the web address.
Good luck and keep on posting with your questions. There is a massive amount of experience and knowledge on this site and there’s always someone who’s ready to share!
Take care, Angelfalls xx
Dont forget that your body will need the full range of nutrients to cope with surgery and the aftermath.I understand about wanting control but I do worry about extreme diets.
good Luck for your op and the rest of your treatment.
Vx
Hi V, Thanks for the advice, I will start adding in wholegrain carbs the last couple of days before the op and some fish.Good luck with your treatment too. Becky x
