Hi , I recently downloaded my raw dna from ancestry to a site called Promethease which gives you a medical report for your DNA.
The report showed I had a BRCA1 variant considered pathogenic for breast cancer. Now I need some advice. Do I go to my GP and ask them for a blood test to confirm this report and will they take it seriously 'Obviously I also have concerns for my adult daughter and sons if the results are confirmed.

Hi Gene, I don’t know anything about this but just wanted to say that in my experience it’s not easy to get a genetic test done so doubtful a GP would act on this information. I may be wrong but I’m the second in my immediate family to have had breast cancer, my mum died from it yet they won’t test me or my two sisters.
Always worth an ask or look at the private route if you are able, sorry not much help but didn’t want to read and run!
