Newbie

Hi everyone,

My first time on this forum, I guess I’m now in the club that none of us wants to be in.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer a month ago today. The consultant told me it was cancer on the first exam based on the sneaky dimple she’d seen under the breast. I’d only been alarmed to the problem based on feeling an odd prickly pain.
Two weeks later the biopsy confirmed it was an invasive ductal carcinoma, grade 1 ER positive and HER2 negative.
Two weeks on I’ve still not heard anything about the next appointment or surgery dates.
I’ve no idea how long wait times should be and how quickly surgery should happen after diagnosis. The breast cancer nurse told me the biopsy details over the phone and said I’ll be contacted for an appointment to see the consultant to discuss surgery but couldn’t give me a timeline. I’m getting pretty anxious. My sleep is terrible but I’m sure you’ve all been through that. I quit HRT cold turkey and so it’s been a rubbish month on many levels.

Any advice on wait times would be appreciated. Also is it wise to go private or stay NHS? I hear the NHS is a better route for cancer. Finally any advice on anything herbal I can take in place of hrt mainly for sleep and anxiety.

I’m worried that it’s been a month and have no idea how fast breast cancer grows and so I’m just in a constant state of stress.
Thank you, Tracey
