I have been diagnosed with tnbc and will be seeing the oncologist on Thursday to talk about chemo plan which i am having prior to surgery…i had a mri with contrast on thursday last week but now just got a text confirmation of an appointment for tomorrow for a contrast enhanced mammogram and no one is available to speak to regarding this … head is spinning and anxiety through the roof more than it was…i dont understand why no one has explained…has anyone had this after an mri

I’ve just completed radiotherapy for a different type of breast cancer. It can be really scary not being able to talk to anyone or not have anyone to explain stuff. It looks like they want to be really clear about where the tumour is and how to deal with it. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to talk to a macmillan nurse who will take the time to explain everything. Results from the MRI should come through pretty quickly. Keep coming back to this forum with updates as there’s so many people on this journey and they’ll be someone whose on the same journey as you. Lots of love!!!

Hi,

I have a different breast cancer to you but your journey sounds similar to mine.

I am also having chemo before surgery, my cancer is inoperable at the moment because of vessel involvement.

I have had at least three ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs all with contrast and now I am waiting for a PET scan.

I think it is pretty normal for them to get a full picture and my breast care nurse said they like a baseline so that when you are going through treatment they can see the improvement or if anything needs fine tuning.

Hopefully you will get to speak to a nurse soon who can reassure you.

Thank you for your response @puglover56, ours sound similar, its scary just getting an appointment with no explanation but I have to trust the process, its my surgeon who has asked for this so seems he may have a different opinion on my plan since me having the mri as i was just going to the oncologist on thursday so we will see tomorrow…love to you and thanks for responding

Hi. I had triple negative breast cancer. I too had all sorts of scans at various stages. The only one I didn’t have was a contrast enhanced mammogram but I think that is probably because they don’t have such a fancy thing at my hospital! At least they have managed to find your tumour on a scan. The tumour in my L breast wasn’t detected on any of the scans, but the lymph nodes that were under my arm showed up on all of them. So please don’t panic - they are just being thorough🙂
