Hi all my name is tracy and i was diagnosed last week taking each day as it comes. My next challenge is telling my 21 year old son who comes back from holiday on Wednesday. I am scared of breaking his heart…then i have to tell my mum…big week ahead
Hello Tracy,
I am really sorry that you’ve needed to find yourself here, but you won’t regret coming here for support and advice! Were you told what type of cancer you had ?Have you had a treatment plan discussed yet?
You wont break their hearts, honestly, as you need to remind them and yourself that everyone posting here is living and dealing with their individual diagnoses. They will probably be shocked and upset, just as you were, but they will work through it and enter an acceptance phase. Life hasn’t ended with your BC diagnosis, but I appreciate you might feel that way right now a this is a very difficult place you are in, the hardest few weeks psychologically and emotionally. Times have changed, treatments are so different to what they were ?

Hi Tracy, welcome to the forum. Its a horrible ,shocking time when you are first diagnosed but it does get easier when you know your treatment plan and what happens next .It is very hard telling people close to you as you don’t want to upset or worry them, there is a very good chance you will be around for many years to come so focus on that when you talk to your son.All the best Jill.
