Hello Everyone
Two weeks today I got the news none of us ever wants to hear.
The past fortnight has been a huge rollercoaster of emotions, tests and appointments, but I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you that!
I have a strong family history of BC and have been on a mamogram screening process because of this, but unfortunately this did not pick up what I have always been dreading :smileysad:
Am so fortunate to have amazing support from family and friends and finally starting to feel stronger and more positve. I am due to have an op beginning of September, but have been given so many options that my head is spinning.
I know every case is different and it is down to individual choice as to which treatmeant you have, but would welcome any advice anyone is willing to share. Have been reading some of the posts on here and it seems that you are an amazing support network and I have found the right place to be xxx
Hi Julie. I’m sorry to hear your news. I’ve just finished chemo and now having a mastectomy … Have you got your plan of treatment yet ? Once you have a plan then it seems to be less stressful … I’m having an immediate implant when I have left mastectomy … I had 2 WLE but no clear margins before chemo … Hope you are ok as it is such a stressful time when you are first diagnosed … Xx
Hi Julie, sorry you have had to join us but we are a pretty supportive bunch and we know exactly how you are feeling .Please feel free to join is on the just diagnosed and wanting to talk thread if you would like ,we are a bit bonkers but support and humour on offer there .Jill.
Hello
Thank you for your replies, sorry I’ve been so quiet, but really appreciate that you took the time to reply.
Think I’ve managed to post/start three different threads as I couldn’t see my posts at first so thought they hadn’t worked, but just seen from my profile they did! Oops, so sorry if I’ve kept repeating myself! Have decided to copy and paste the same reply to all of them as people were kind enough to reply, hope that’s ok. Will try and keep to one thread in future!!! :smileywink:
Have finally an op date for next week and the beginnings of a treatment plan. After much discussion with my consultant I’ve opted for a lumpectomy and radiotherapy, but that could all change depending on the op, just have to wait and see. Trying to keep busy and stay positive, but allowing myself a wobble when I need one, releases the pressure I’ve found.
Really scared about going into hospital next week, just want it over now the waiting is one of the worst bits.
Hope you and your loved ones treatments are going well, take care all :smileywink: xxx
Great news about the lymph nodes ! Yes enjoy the pampering until your next appointment. Glad it went well x Lorna
Hello, just a quick update. Had my results today, margins were clear so no more surgery needed just now or chemotherapy. Will be having radiotherapy and tablets and just waiting for an oncology appointment now. Relief was enormous, not sure what anyone made of us sobbing like babies with happy tears outside the hospital but really didn’t care!! Still got a very sore boob as dressings came off today but hopefully that’ll improve over the coming days/weeks.
Will probably move over to one of the treatment threads now so maybe catch you over there.
Take care and thank you for your replies and support xxx
Fantastic news Julie! We were the same at the hospital, such a huge sense of relief after the weeks of stress and anxiety, i slept like a baby that night! So happy for you Xx jo
